Alan Shearer sends warning to Harry Kane amid PSG and Manchester City transfer links

Alan Shearer has warned Harry Kane over a potential move away from Tottenham at the end of the season.

The Spurs striker is once again having a fantastic campaign in front of goal - and is well on course to secure his third Golden Boot award, with Mohamed Salah the only man able to match him so far.

However, according to Sky Sports, if Tottenham are unable to qualify for the Champions League next season, then Kane could ask to leave the club.

First reported by The Athletic, the England captain is becoming increasingly frustrated at Spurs' inability to challenge for the major honours.

Kane would definitely not be short of suitors if he were to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer, but Shearer has warned the 27-year-old that it might be difficult to find a club that are willing to meet Spurs' demands for him next year.

Writing in his column for The Athletic, the Premier League's all-time leading goal scorer said: “I’ve got way too much respect for Harry as a player and a man to offer him advice on a decision that I know for myself is rarely linear and that may not, in the end, be his to make.

"What I would say, though, is this: if he’s going to leave, it looks like this summer or not at all. Harry is 28 in three months and this is why I think we’re approaching a pivotal moment.

"He’s at his peak, the ready-made article, an absolute guarantee of goals wherever he plays and the opposite of a gamble, but a buying club is going to want three or four of his best years in return for what would certainly be an exorbitant transfer fee.

"This is that time. Twelve months down the line and it becomes that bit more difficult to justify.”

Shearer also explained that Tottenham are entitled to ask for an extortionate transfer fee if clubs did make a move for him in the summer.

He added: "A lack of crowds inside their beautiful new stadium has cost them, but that doesn’t mean selling Harry makes financial sense.

"If they have designs on getting back to the elite, players of his calibre will be necessary.

"They couldn’t let him go without identifying a replacement and they’ll know there’s a huge danger of being shafted on a fee once they get big dough for Harry. They have to look after themselves."
