Alan Shearer sends stark warning to Tottenham’s Harry Kane over poor Euros form

Alan Shearer has instructed Spurs striker Harry Kane to keep “screaming” for service amid his England woes at Euro 2020.

The forward has thus far underwhelmed at tournament, failing to find the net in each of England’s opening two group games against Croatia and Scotland.

He has been substituted by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate in both of those matches, failing to be a threat in each.

However, Shearer has sympathised with the Tottenham hitman, suggesting that the service into him hasn’t been good enough - something that Kane himself should be able to rectify.

Speaking to the BBC following England’s disappointing performance against Scotland, Shearer said: “A month ago he got the Golden Boot, but it's just a reminder to Harry that he can't keep coming short.

“You've got to offer the defenders other problems. In his defence it was far too negative last night.

“You've got to break the lines. The number of times I've seen Reece James whip a ball in, he doesn't even think once about doing it.

“Harry Kane should be screaming at him to get that ball in. There's no doubt Kane can play better and he will play better.

“Bobby Robson once said to me '’do not keep coming towards the ball, offer other problems to the defender'’. When the crosses aren't coming in he has to tell them.”

Kane headed into the tournament having enjoyed yet another profitable season domestically having netted 33 goals for Spurs in all competitions throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

He has another chance to kick his tournament into life on Tuesday as England clash with the Czech Republic at Wembley Stadium.
