Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has assured fans that their 2-1 win over West Brom will feature on Match of the Day before the dreadful Manchester derby.
Manchester City and United shared a goalless draw that was low on incident and presenter Gary Lineker quipped: "Not the best Manchester derby I’ve seen. It was nearly dull enough to watch Strictly....alright I’m exaggerating."
A United fan had responded to that Lineker tweet about the dire 0-0 draw to ask whether that meant Newcastle would get a plum spot on MOTD - and Shearer replied in the affirmative, much to the delight of United supporters.
Newcastle's narrow win came courtesy of a superb Dwight Gayle header as United edged out a spirited Albion side in a game that produced plenty of incident, even if the Magpies' performance was far from perfect.
Shearer is due to be the lead pundit on MOTD but reassured another fan who asked whether he decided the schedule that he doesn't.
Match of the Day is due to start at 10.25 on BBC One. Newcastle are the second game up, after Everton's match against Chelsea.
