Alan Shearer has heaped praise on David de Gea after the Spaniard helped Manchester United extend their winning run in the league to three games at Norwich City's expense.
Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty secured the win but it was De Gea who ensured that the Canaries were kept at bay as he managed just his third clean sheet of the campaign.
The 31-year-old has been one of the standout performers for United this season with a number of important saves, even during their dismal spell, as his latest showing adds to a list of important performances after denying a late flurry of chances from Dean Smith's side.
As a result, Ralf Rangnick's side moved into fifth place - with Spurs not playing this weekend due to the postponement of their match after a Covid outbreak - and to within a point of West Ham, who occupy fourth.
It was far from an impressive showing from the German's side, but they had De Gea to thank for sending them back to Manchester with all three points.
"I've got to say Norwich deserved something out of the game," Shearer said on Match of the Day.
"[They] go through Manchester United so many times with ease but David de Gea again was the best player for Manchester United.
"That was a superb save [from Pukki], bit unlucky absolutely but that's Norwich's problem, eight goals in 16 games this season, five from Pukki so that's going to have to change if they want to stay in this division.
"But he [De Gea] wasn't letting anything through today, superb again, back-post but he didn't know he was offside - Kabak with the header - it would've been disallowed but he was there to keep it out again, he's having an excellent season."
