Alan Shearer feels Manchester City playmaker Jack Grealish "takes the easy option too many times" after the summer signing continues to find his feet in Pep Guardiola's side.
He was brought back into the starting line-up after missing their previous two wins following the action taken by the Spanish boss on Grealish and Phil Foden in light of the England pair being pictured at a nightclub in the aftermath of the win over Leeds United.
The Stockport-born attacker scored the all-important goal in the win over Brentford as he too was reintroduced to the fold, but the Premier League legend believes Grealish looks as if he's "lost" a bit since his British-record move.
The 26-year-old has come under the spotlight as he continues to acclimatise Guardiola's style of play with his struggles laid bare after scoring twice this season and registering as many assists in his debut season.
"First and foremost he’s a wonderful talent, someone doesn’t spend £100m on him if you haven't got incredible ability, he has," Shearer told Amazon Prime.
"We saw that at Aston Villa, but what I saw at Villa was a guy who was their danger man who teams certainly went two up against him and was always attacking players, I think he takes the easy option too many times.
"I understand Man City are a possession-based team and he doesn’t want to lose the ball but it looks as if he’s lost that bit of he’s prepared to gamble. He doesn’t really go past anyone; he had two dribbles tonight.
"Everything was safe and simple and looked at times that he was a little scared to lose the ball."
