Alan Shearer's brilliant response to Manchester United fans on Twitter after his Ole Gunnar Solskjaer jibe

Alan Shearer has hit back at Manchester United fans and told them to “get over it” after he teased them about their 4-0 defeat at Everton.

Shearer enjoys a running battle with Red Devils fans on social media and he was at it again on Sunday after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were beaten comprehensively at Goodison Park.

Since Solskjaer got the job, the Red Devils have reprised songs that compare the Norweigan to Shearer, who turned them down in favour of Newcastle in 1996 . They sang the song during their most recent trip to St James’ Park, which prompted a response on Twitter from Shearer.

On Sunday he Tweeted: “What’s that song they sing  again? You are my ........” after the defeat at Everton.

And one riled-up United fan and writer Scott Patterson wrote: “Ole wins us the European Cup as a player and gives us a chance of finishing in the top 4 as manager, and then this guy pipes up. You know, the one who won f**k all at Newcastle as a player and then got them relegated as a manager. Have some shame”.

To which Shearer replied: “You still choose to sing the name of someone who turned you down!!!! Thanks pal I really appreciate it!! It’s only been 23 years.” Before adding the hashtag “getoverit”.

The Tweet had thousands of likes within a few minutes of posting. Just like on the football field, Shearer’s instincts remain as sharp as ever...
