Alan Shearer believes 'three or four' Newcastle United players did not 'do their jobs' in the build-up to Wolves' equaliser on Saturday night.
Jamaal Lascelles headed the Magpies in front shortly after the break but Ruben Neves levelled things up in the 73rd minute.
Wolves took advantage of a communications breakdown after Newcastle failed to reorganise after Matt Ritchie replaced the injured Emil Krafth a minute previously.
Bruce later admitted that 'unfortunately Matty didn't get on quick enough the instructions of how we were doing it'.
Lascelles, meanwhile, said he was 'going to go in and speak about that now' because he was 'not too sure' himself but the Magpies' skipper believed his side 'deserved more'.
Regardless, Shearer thinks the players will be 'bitterly disappointed' because Wolves 'should have been stopped in so many areas'.
"I agree with him that they should have won the game," he told Premier League Productions.
"They had enough chances to have won the game and good chances: two in the first half and certainly one in the second half. He scored a very good goal.
"I'm not sure what he's on about re: the confusion.
"There were three or four of Newcastle's players who didn't do their jobs: [Joe] Willock tracking, not tracking; [Jamal] Lewis gets beaten too easily with the cross coming in; then [Isaac] Hayden doesn't close Neves down when he should do because he's been put into the right-back position; and the goalkeeper [Martin Dubravka] should do better.
"So there's three or four instances there where they will be disappointed they have conceded that goal but in terms of effort, absolutely, I agree with him.
"They put plenty of that in: they closed down, they worked hard, they created chances. I just hope they don't regret missing those big opportunities because that's points lost I think."
