Alan Shearer reveals his 'massive worry' for Newcastle United

Alan Shearer has revealed his "massive worry" for Newcastle United following their latest defeat at Arsenal.

The Magpies have now gone nine matches without a win in all competitions following the 3-0 loss at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

Steve Bruce rang the changes and demanded a response from his side, but it was a comfortable victory for the hosts with a second-half double from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka's strike.

United remain 15th in the Premier League table and seven points clear of the relegation zone, but their alarming form has led fans and pundits alike to predict a basement battle for the Magpies.

Analysing the result on behalf in the Premier League Productions studio, Shearer and Ian Wright expressed their fears for the Magpies this season.

The Arsenal legend admitted it was a concerning performance that left him doubting where a response was going to from within Bruce's side.

When asked if that was the worry with Newcastle, Shearer replied: "That is a massive worry. He's made eight changes, he's said the gloves are off, he's said he's going to do it his way.

"He's changed the system so you're thinking come on lads, give us something. What have you got? Are you going to roll your sleeves up and have a fight?

"If you're going to go down, are you going to go down fighting? The first half was alright. We said at half-time they defended all right.

"The second half, that's not acceptable. That's as poor as it gets, that's not what I would call the right reaction. "
