Alan Shearer praises Manchester United boss Solskjaer over handling of Mino Raiola situation

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been praised for the way he has handled the difficult situations that he has been presented with at Manchester United in recent months.

United endured a rough start to the season, with the heavy defeat by Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in October one that increased the scrutiny on Solskjaer.

On top of that, United exited the Champions League at the group stage in December, with their decisive defeat by RB Leipzig coming a day after Italian outlet Tuttosport published an interview with Mino Raiola in which Paul Pogba's agent said the Frenchman's United career was 'over'.

The France international was not at his best in the early weeks of the campaign, but has stepped up of late to become one of the club’s most important players.

While on punditry duty for United’s FA Cup clash against Liverpool, former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer praised Solskjaer for the way he handled the pressure during the tough moments of the season.

"People were calling for his job ten or eleven weeks ago and he was under huge pressure,” said Shearer. “They got hammered here by Tottenham and knocked out the Champions League.

"Having to deal with that and the nonsense from players' agents - particularly Paul Pogba's... when you put that all together and where they were to where they are now, without doubt he is doing a fantastic job."
