Alan Shearer offers immediate reaction after Joe Willock equals Newcastle United record

Alan Shearer has reacted immediately following Joe Willock equalling his Newcastle United record.

Willock, who is playing his last game on his Magpies contract with his loan from Arsenal coming to an end, opened the scoring in London against the already-relegated Fulham.

The 21-year-old midfielder has now found the back of the net in his last seven Premier League games.

The Gunners youngster started this incredible scoring streak when he netted against Tottenham, before goals versus West Ham United, Liverpool, Leicester City, Manchester City, Sheffield United and now, Fulham.

Newcastle icon Shearer, who holds the club record of scoring in seven straight league matches, has now reacted on Twitter.

He wrote: "Yessssss @Joewillock again. 7 on the spin. (four clapping emojis)#FULNEW".

Willock might not get the chance to break that record in a Newcastle shirt, with his loan spell coming to an end, but Steve Bruce has insisted he will do everything he can to sign him on a permanent basis from Arsenal over the summer.

Bruce said: "We always said that it was a double-edged sword, and we have to respect that he is Arsenal's player.

"We'll see over the summer whether we can test their resolve, but as I said from day one, I'd like to thank Mikel and Steve Round on the football side of it because they were instrumental in getting me him and letting us borrow him for a few months.

"He has been great for us, he's been great for Newcastle. When I see what he's done in the last few weeks and the names who have scored six in six, it's quite remarkable, so well done to Joe.

"Let's see. As I've said many, many times now, I've got total respect. Let's not disrespect Arsenal, he is their player."
