Alan Shearer names the Chelsea trait that will make them 'very hard' to beat in title race

Chelsea's fine start to the season got even better on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in north London keeping them tied with Liverpool and Manchester United at the top of the table.

After a lacklustre first 45 minutes, second-half goals from Thiago Silva, N'Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger made it 13 points from a possible 15 for Thomas Tuchel's side with five matches played.

The Premier League's record goalscorer, Alan Shearer, has been impressed with the Blues as well, with their ability to stay focused when things are not necessarily going their way standing out in particular.

Tottenham were the better side in the first half but the visitors stayed in the game and came out with a fresh energy in the second half.

"The Premier League title race is only just getting started, but Chelsea already look like they will be very hard to stop," Shearer told the BBC.

"Thomas Tuchel's side look seriously impressive right now, but they have done since he took charge in January.

"Even when they are not playing well or things go wrong - like it did when Reece James was sent off at Anfield last month - Chelsea still give very little away.

"As they showed in their brilliant 3-0 win at Tottenham on Sunday, the Blues have an extremely strong squad and a very good manager too."

Another tough test is just around the corner with reigning champions Manchester City visiting Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime.

But with Pep Guardiola's side being held to a 0-0 draw by Southampton at the Etihad last weekend, Tuchel will be confident of improving his impressive record against the Spaniard.
