Alan Shearer names Liverpool star he would have loved to play alongside

Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold and claimed Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are in ‘dreamland’ playing in the same side as the 23-year-old.

Liverpool’s right-back has been in scintillating form this season, registering an impressive 11 assists in 19 appearances across all competitions.

Only Salah has contributed more assists in the Premier League this term after Alexander-Arnold notched his eighth in the top flight during the 2-2 draw at Tottenham.

The England star has also scored twice this term, his recent strike in the 3-1 win over Newcastle was a spectacular effort from all of 25 yards that epitomised the confidence flowing through his game right now.

Shearer has been so impressed with his displays for the Reds that when asked which current Premier League player he’d most liked to play alongside he named the Liverpool defender.

TRANSFER PLANS: Jarrod Bowen and Raphinha assessed ahead of summer change

“Kevin De Bruyne hasn’t played so much this season, so I’d say Trent Alexander-Arnold,” he told the Athletic .

“His deliveries from the wing, from set pieces, the positions he gets into, the quality of his crossing and his passing are all absolutely superb.

“To be in that Liverpool team must be dreamland for Salah, Mane and Diogo Jota.”

Since making his debut for the Reds’ first team in 2016 Alexander-Arnold has gone on to make 198 appearances for the club, scoring 12 times and setting up 54 goals in total.
