Alan Shearer names his Premier League team of the decade - and Sergio Aguero responds

Alan Shearer has named his Premier League XI of the 2010s, and it certainly caught Sergio Aguero's attention.

The former Blackburn, Newcastle and England forward made his selection for the Premier League website, and came up with some fairly bold calls.

In goal, Petr Cech got the nod over Manchester United's David de Gea as Shearer called him "reliable, consistent and an organiser."

The Premier League's all-time record goalscorer then went with a back three of Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany and former Chelsea pair John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic.

Of that trio Ivanovic is perhaps the most surprising call, but Shearer praised the Serbian for being tough and hard to play against.

Shearer's midfield four is very City heavy, as he picks David Silva, Yaya Toure and Kevin De Bruyne, with N'Golo Kante also added for his efforts in helping both Leicester and Chelsea to the title in the 2010s.

On Kante, Shearer says: "The way he dragged Leicester to that title, then on to Chelsea and winning another... he has to be in my team."

Then in attack the Magpies legend picks Eden Hazard, Wayne Rooney and Aguero, mentioning the latter's "four titles, goals, consistency" and calling him "one of the best foreign players we have had in the Premier League, if not the best."

And Aguero picked up on his inclusion less than an hour after Shearer's selection had been tweeted by the Premier League.

Manchester City's all-time top goalscorer tweeted: "It's an honour! Thank you, truly, @ManCity @premierleague @alanshearer."

Aguero is currently sidelined with a thigh injury, but City boss Pep Guardiola has stated that he has returned to training this week ahead of a comeback in the near future.
