Alan Shearer has identified one area that he believes Mikel Arteta has already improved at Arsenal.
Arteta picked up his first win as Gunners boss on New Year’s Day against Manchester United, before then seeing his side beat Leeds at the Emirates Stadium in the FA Cup third round.
But it is the performances’ of his side that have left those in the game impressed.
And Shearer believes the former Man City assistant has already improved the work rate of the Gunners.
“Well he has definitely got them working harder,” the former Newcastle United captain told BBC Sport.
“We saw signs of it in the game against Chelsea. But they are actually doing it now. This is against Manchester United and just watch the intensity and aggression.
“The work rate, closing down, they are much higher up the pitch. Every player seems to be on the same page.
“This is when they had to defend. Deeper and you have six or seven bodies in and around the two forwards there.
“Speaking of forwards this is the work rate that this manager now demands and expects from every single Arsenal player.
“They can carry no passengers now Arsenal. This guy will not accept any slackers in this team.
“If they don’t do it then he will have the chance to get rid of them.”
