Alan Shearer has transfer hunch about Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba

Alan Shearer thinks a decision has already been made on Paul Pogba's future at Manchester United.

The midfielder has just over a year left on his deal at United, meaning the Reds could be forced into selling him to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2022.

Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, caused a stir in December when he said the French World Cup winner's time at United was 'over'.

Yet Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since touched on the possibility of tying Pogba to a new deal, with the 28-year-old enjoying one of his best runs of form since his 2016 return to Old Trafford.

Pogba returned from a six-week injury lay-off to score the crucial goal in United's Europa League victory over AC Milan on Thursday night.

Speaking ahead of United's FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City, Shearer praised Pogba for starting to showcase his ability on a consistent basis.

The former England striker also claimed that a decision has likely already been made on where the player's future lies beyond the summer.

Shearer said: "We’ve said it so many times that the ability is there but we probably haven’t seen it enough. We know what he can do, he did it in the week when he came on and scored and has been injured for the last six or seven weeks.

"So, it depends what he wants, but I expect the decision has been made already on whether he’s staying or going."
