Former Newcastle United and England star Alan Shearer has taken aim at Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley despite his wonder goal in the 2-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Willian opened the scoring for the Blues at Stamford Bridge before Barkley went on a fine run and fired home a brilliant shot from outside the box to cap off an impressive fifth round success for Frank Lampard's men.
But Shearer, who was on punditry duties for the BBC last night, quickly criticised Barkley post-match for not showing enough of that type of form since the 26-year-old made the switch from Everton to Chelsea in 2018.
"We see glimpses of him doing things like this but with his ability he should be doing it on a regular basis," Shearer told the BBC.
"Why isn't he doing that week in week out? The ability is without a doubt there. We don't see it often enough."
Fellow pundits and former Liverpool and Chelsea defender Glen Johnson explained why he believes Barkley sometimes struggles.
Johnson said: "Sometimes he looks like he doesn't know what he wants to do. He sets off on runs and questions himself all the time.
"You'd like to see him be a bit more single-minded."
Arsenal great Ian Wright added his thoughts by hailing the effort from the Chelsea playmaker.
"What I like about the goal is that he has nothing else in his mind," Wright added.
"He has Pedro with him and he didn't even look at him once. He only had one thing on his mind. The power of the shot is brilliant."
