Alan Shearer's succession of tweets during Newcastle United's 2-1 victory over Burnley shows that the Premier League's record goalscorer goes through the same emotions in 90 minutes as every over loyal Geordie.
The Magpies had to come from behind to beat Burnley, and thanks to super-sub Allan Saint-Maximin picked up their first win in eight games.
Saint-Maximin made an immediate impact from the bench and in just eight minutes set up Jacob Murphy for the equaliser before grabbing what turned out to be the winner.
United had been second best until the introduction of Saint-Maximin but should have had a penalty late in the first half after Sean Longstaff was booted in the head by James Tarkowski but after a VAR check, it wasn't given.
Understandably, fans were angered by the decision, and Shearer was one of them.
"That should be a pen - anywhere else on the pitch...[that's a foul]," he tweeted.
This was followed by several more tweets which reminded people - not that they needed it - that Shearer rides the same emotional rollercoaster as any other fan.
There was applause for Saint-Maximin, astonishment that Sean Longstaff was fouled yet again by a high boot and the referee this time awarded it, and then praise for the team.
It was a great insight into Shearer - and a reminder that despite his status as the Premier League and Newcastle's record goalscorer, he's still just a fan - still just a sheet-metal worker's son from Gosforth.
