Alan Shearer explains why Man City will not win the quadruple

Manchester City are on course to land a historic quadruple but former England captain Alan Shearer believes they're going to come unstuck in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's side have already bagged the Carabao Cup and are favourites to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League as the season draws to a close.

While Guardiola is refusing to be drawn on the topic some of his players including Bernardo Silva have spoken about it being possible as the campaign enters its final few weeks.

However, Shearer believes it’s City’s hopes of winning the Champions League which will be dashed in the coming weeks.

“I believe Man City will win this (FA Cup) competition. This is a team that has won 21 of their last 22 games in all competitions,” Shearer told BBC Sport ahead of the semi-final clash with Brighton.

“They have got an incredible squad with a brilliant manager who has been there and done it and seen it all.

“I don’t think they will win all four. I think they could win the three including the Premier League and the FA Cup but I just think the Champions League might be too much for them.”

City face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League quarter-finals, with the first leg taking place in the capital on Tuesday, April 9.
