Alan Shearer can't believe what happened to Jonny Evans after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tackle

Alan Shearer is in agreement with Arsenal supporters regarding one major decision during the 2-0 win over Leicester City.

Despite recording an impressive result at the King Power Stadium - one that stretches their unbeaten run to nine games across all competitions - some Gunners fans weren't happy with referee Michael Oliver.

This was in relation to an incident in the second half when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang attempted to spin away from Leicester City defender Jonny Evans.

The Arsenal captain completed the first part of the task but was eventually hauled down by the former Manchester United centre-back, who was shown a yellow card for the challenge.

However, there was a clear feeling among Arsenal fans that Evans should have been given his marching orders as Aubameyang was denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Matters were compounded around an hour later when Aymeric Laporte was issued a red card for a foul on Wilfried Zaha, which was similar to Evans' foul on Aubameyang, during Manchester City's 2-0 loss at home to Crystal Palace.

As a result, this prompted several Arsenal fans to compare the two incidents on social media and many were still adamant that Evans should have suffered the same fate at Laporte.

And Shearer agreed as he couldn't quite believe that referee Oliver did not produce the red card.

"Jonny Evans, it is the inconsistency that drives players and coaches mad," Shearer said on Match of the Day. "That is without doubt a clear goalscoring opportunity, yet Michael Oliver thinks that is only a yellow card.

"That was the wrong decision for me.

"No full-back is getting back and he [Aubameyang] would have been clean through, but he gives a yellow card. Wrong decision, it should have been a red. The referee gets that one wrong.

"[Aymeric] Laporte, it is a goalscoring opportunity and that is denying a goalscoring opportunity. That is a red card.

"But it is the inconsistency."
