Alan Shearer brutally shuts down Michael Chopra's Steve Bruce dig on Twitter

Alan Shearer shut down former teammate Michael Chopra on Twitter after he questioned Steve Bruce’s training methods.

Chopra’s been an outspoken critic of Bruce since the start of the season and clashed with the Newcastle boss after the Norwich defeat, having said players didn’t know what they were meant to be doing.

United stand six points above the drop zone and stopped the Christmas rot with a battling draw at Wolves . But there was criticism of the club’s manager for more injuries with Newcastle losing Paul Dummett and Dwight Gayle before the 30 minute mark.

And Chopra questioned Newcastle’s training – which prompted Shearer to quote tweet him with a message pointing out that it was a decent result in the circumstances.

Shearer has criticised United at times this season but clearly felt Chopra’s point was taking it too far – making his own not-so-subtle point. Shearer’s message had got nearly 1,000 likes at last view.

Bruce has faced criticism for the club’s injury record and admitted on Saturday night that the Magpies would hold an investigation to get to the bottom of it this week.

Newcastle face an FA Cup replay on Tuesday against Rochdale which will stretch their resources even further.
