Alan Shearer brutally puts down Arsenal's Dani Ceballos for "truck" moment in West Brom win

Alan Shearer aimed a brutal dig at Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos following the Gunners' 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta's side earned all three points at the Emirates Stadium courtesy of goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Nicolas Pepe and Willian.

The Baggies did pull one back through midfielder Matheus Pereira, however, who embarked upon a run from his own half to score a brilliant individual goal.

Attempting to stop the Brazilian in his tracks was Ceballos, who got nowhere near the 25-year-old as the West Brom midfielder glided past him with ease.

Ceballos' failure to keep pace with Pereira did not go unnoticed as Shearer made light of the situation when reviewing the game on Match of the Day.

“Look where he [Pereira] picks it up," said the record Premier League goalscorer. "Ceballos is towing a truck there, isn’t he? He is never going to get near him at all.”

It has been a difficult campaign for the Arsenal midfielder, who has been unable to hit the heights reached in his initial loan spell.

Ceballos was shown a red card in the Gunners' Europa League semi-final first leg with Villarreal, missing the return fixture as Arteta's side crashed out of the competition.

The Real Madrid loanee stated in a recent interview that his style of play is more suited to La Liga than the Premier League, adding to the idea that the 24-year-old is likely to return to his native country at the end of this season.

Asked to provide an update on the future of Ceballos one month ago, Arteta said: "No, we mentioned to you guys and at the end of the season [we will discuss that].

"We will sit with him. We are always in contact and communication with the players and agents to know what their feelings are."
