Alan Shearer breaks down why 'incredible' Leeds United are brilliant to watch

The Premier League's all-time leading scorer Alan Shearer has explained why Leeds United are so brilliant to watch following the 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

Raheem Sterling fired Pep Guardiola's side ahead but summer signing Rodrigo equalised off the bench with his first goal since his club-record move from Valencia.

That put Leeds fifth in the Premier League at the end of play on Saturday, with Marcelo Bielsa's side taking seven out of a possible 12 points so far this season.

Leeds have certainly shown their prowess in the opening weeks of the new campaign and have attracted plenty of plaudits in the process.

Shearer is among them and, as he identified how Leeds make themselves open at the back with their style of play, he couldn't help but admit he enjoys their 'unique' style of play.

"What they do very well is that they play to the five forward players 'go and do your stuff' and they basically left Phillips on his own with three or four defenders, saying 'once we lose the ball it's up to you'," he told Premier League Productions.

"They're so open. They're going to score goals this season, no doubt about that, but I tell you what, they're going to concede a lot of goals also.

"For the viewers like us, the neutrals, they're going to be brilliant to watch because it's such a unique and different way of playing that the manager encourages them to do.

"The attackers, go and do your stuff in the final third, then basically there is three or four defenders and Phillips to sit in there, to rely on them to get them out of the mire at times.

"It's risky in football but it works for them because they're so fit as well, which they have to be because they have to get all over the park. The running they do is incredible."
