Alan Shearer feels Dwight Gayle's will offer a 'goal threat' that's been missing from Newcastle United in recent weeks.
Gayle returns to the starting eleven for the game against Aston Villa, and Shearer is hoping that the former number nine can score some goals tonight.
"They've got to show more attacking intent this evening," he said on BBC 5Live before the game.
"I think that is why Gayle is back in the team ahead of Hendrick.
"He should give them a goal threat which didn't they really posses last week, and that is why they've made that change because someone has to put the ball in the back of the net.
"They've got to go out and show attacking intent, make sure they win this game.
"It's a good opportunity.
"Steve Bruce has said it's a good opportunity for them to put pressure on the teams in and around them, and it is but they cannot afford that to become negative, where they play tonight and don't get the right result.
"They've got to create chances that and is why Gayle is in the team to hopefully finish one or two off from a Newcastle point of view."
Newcastle lie just a point above the relegation zone and Shearer feels that this is an ideal chance for the Magpies to pull away from the drop zone - especially with Villa without their star man Jack Grealish.
"It's a huge game for Newcastle - it's a very good opportunity for them to go out and get three points.
"Villa are a good team, having a great season but they are not the same team without Jack Grealish.
"It's an excellent opportunity for Newcastle to go and get those points tonight."
