Alan Shearer and Bruno Guimaraes lead congratulations as Kieran Tripper extends Newcastle deal

Alan Shearer and Bruno Guimaraes were among those to lead the congratulations for Kieran Trippier's new deal at St. James' Park. The England international has been a standout performer since arriving at St. James' Park last January.

The former Atletico Madrid defender was the first player to take the plunge and join struggling Newcastle United in their fight against relegation. Trippier has been a huge part in the transformation from relegation favourites into European contenders.

Shearer took to social media to applaud Trippier's new deal, while his fellow team mates took to Instagram to send their messages of support.

Trippier's new contract will see the defender stay with the club until the summer of 2025, taking him to 35-years-old. Upon signing a new deal, the defender said: "I'm absolutely delighted that I've extended my contract here. I've got a lot of thank yous to make to the manager, owners, fans and my team-mates.

"When I first arrived here, they made me feel so welcome and I want to help the club achieve great things. It's a positive moment for us players in the club and there's no place I'd rather be."

Here's how the Newcastle United players reacted on Instagram:

Bruno Guimaraes said: "Very deserved bro."

Nick Pope said: "Love it you."

Mehrdad Ghodoussi replied: "So well deserved."

Paul Dummett commented: "Congrats Trips."

Ateltico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso commented: "Congratulations."

Sven Botman and Fabian Schar also applauded the defender's new deal.
