Alan Shearer and Ashley Cole agree over what Chelsea did against Manchester City

Alan Shearer and Ashley Cole have heaped praise on Chelsea after their 'comfortable' win over Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Thomas Tuchel's men booked their spot in the FA Cup final with a 1-0 win at Wembley Stadium, Hakim Ziyech scoring the all-important second-half winner, turning home a neat cross from Timo Werner.

It was an assured performance from Chelsea, who kept the Premier League leaders and likely champions at bay throughout, rarely looking like conceding.

And that defensive effort has seen them attract praise from BBC pundit Shearer, who said after the game: "They looked very comfortable in the system that they played today.

"They got the better of a very, very impressive side in Man City - by doing that, they looked strong in the middle and also in the wing-back positions, particularly in the first-half where they both got forward - [Ben] Chilwell and [Reece] James - they got into dangerous positions.

"Their crossing let them down at times and not only did they play well going forward, they stopped Man City and they didn’t really create anything at all.”

And former Chelsea star Ashley Cole, agreed, saying: "I really enjoyed the performance today. The first-half was a little bit boring, but from Chelsea’s point of view, I thought they did well, they moved the ball quicker (in the second-half), they tried to find Mason (Mount) and (Hakim) Ziyech in dangerous areas, and they did look dangerous at times.

"It’s going to be a big few months for them until the end of the season and hopefully some really big games in there.”

Chelsea now face a wait until Sunday to discover their FA Cup final opponents with Leicester City and Southampton set to face off at Wembley in the other semi-final.

The final is set to take place on May 15.
