Former England international Alan Shearer heaped praise on the Tottenham Hotspur frontline following their thrashing of Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho's attack was unleashed against the Clarets and were able to wreak havoc from the get-go. Gareth Bale was in fine form and got Spurs off to a flying start, prodding in Son Heung-min's cross in just the second minute of the game.
Harry Kane doubled the home side's lead in the 15th minute following an exquisite long pass from Bale who was terrorising the Burnley backline with his pace and passing ability.
The Welshman was involved in the build-up to Spurs' third a fine Lucas Moura strike and it was Bale who added the fourth, a powerful left-footed effort into the far corner.
Bale said after the game to Spurs TV that he is on the way back to his best:
"I am building, yeah it has taken a while but I am happy and I am growing in confidence, my fitness is getting better and obviously I think you can see that in my performances."
BBC pundit Alan Shearer agreed with Bale on the quality of his and Tottenham's performance.
"They were red-hot going forward. Burnley couldn’t cope with them. That front four of Moura, Kane, Bale and Son ran riot," he said on Match of the Day 2.
"A fantastic ball over the top from Bale, left foot, thank you very much, [for] Kane’s goal. It was far too easy, Burnley were jogging, not enough effort closing down and a good player will cost you. They went at them with pace and intent. Plenty more in his tank, absolutely," Shearer added on Bale.
Fellow pundit and former Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy added his own thoughts on Bale's time at Spurs:
"I thought two or three months ago, he should have had a run [in the team]. To see how much confidence he’s got you need that run of games to get that sharpness. Half an hour here, 20 minutes here, a Europa League game, you can’t get any momentum. Hopefully, he’ll stay in the team now until the end of the season."
Shearer believes that Bale's recent form is down to the belief Mourinho is showing in the attacker and that with performances like Sunday's Bale will become undroppable for Spurs:
"Sometimes you need to believe your manager wants you there and believes in you. You need the opportunity to do it again and he hasn’t done that. On today’s appearance, he has to stay in the team."
