Alan Reynolds follows John Gill in leaving Dundalk's coaching set-up

Dundalk have confirmed that Alan Reynolds has joined John Gill in leaving the coaching set-up at Oriel Park.

Following the recent departure of Vinny Perth as head coach and the appointment of Filippo Giovagnoli plus his assistant Giuseppe Rossi, Gill made public his decision to go and the club have announced his decision in a statement this morning.

Reynolds' exit has also been rubber-stamped, less than three months on from his arrival after quitting the Waterford hot-seat.

The 46-year-old will continue in his coaching role with the Ireland under-21s alongside Jim Crawford and John O'Shea.

"We would like to thank Alan for his short stint at Oriel Park and wish him well, both with the under-21 national squad and in the future," read a club statement.

Gill previously managed the club before returning to work as first team coach under Perth in January 2019, helping the Lilywhites to League title success last season.

"Everybody at Oriel Park would like to thank ‘Giller’ for the hard work, dedication and loyalty he has shown Dundalk FC over the past two decades," the statement added.

"He was a very popular figure at the club and we wish him well in the future".
