Alan Judge has signed a two-year deal with Ipswich, insisting: “It was an easy decision”.
The midfielder joined the Championship’s bottom side on a short-term deal from Brentford in January after returning from a horror broken leg, but he quickly established himself as a regular in the team and is happy to commit his future to the Tractor Boys despite their imminent relegation to League One.
Republic of Ireland international Judge, who has the option of a third year, said: “It was an easy decision. I’m not enjoying where we are in the table but I am enjoying playing for this club.
“I’ve had people ask me why I’d sign for a club at the bottom of the league and I’ve said the most important thing for me is to enjoy my football and I’m doing that here.
“The season has not gone as well as we would have hoped but I’m here and looking forward to the challenge of helping the team get back heading in the right direction.”
Ipswich boss Paul Lambert said: “The supporters have taken to Judgey and his quality is clear to see.
“I know he wants to play for Ireland as well so playing games regularly here can only help in that respect.”
