Alan Hutton sees Alfredo Morelos 'red mist' comparison as former Rangers hero calls for changes

Alan Hutton has revealed his frustration at Alfredo Morelos' continuing Rangers disciplinary problems despite recognising the striker's hotheadedness in his own game.

The Colombian striker was booked for dissent on Thursday night's 3-2 win over Braga, his fifth in the Europa League this season and a caution that ensures he will be suspended for the away leg on Wednesday.

Morelos had started the season with a significant improvement to his disciplinary record but he has slowly slipped back into old habits and has now picked up 10 yellow and two red cards this term.

And Hutton feels Morelos needs to curb his temperamental reactions or risk further harm to his teammates and their efforts to secure trophies.

He told Football Insider: “It is just petulant. I am sick of talking about it.

"It is a shame. He brings so much to the team. He is so important. What he gives with his goals and his abilities to run the channels.

“He has got everything there to be a top striker but it always seems to let him down; this side of the game.

"I understand, I was the same and I had the occasional red mist. It is the way you play, you play on that line.

“He really needs to try and curb the reactions, throwing the arms up in the air, the gestures. You can cut that out. It is these silly things that are really hurting the team.”
