Alan Hutton in Rangers transfer plea as he fesses up over his Ibrox miscalculation

Former Rangers defender Alan Hutton has admitted he was wrong to write surprise package Florian Kamberi off when he joined up at Ibrox.

The Swiss striker arrived at Rangers on an initial six-month loan from Hibs but there is no automatic option for the Govan club to take him from Easter Road permanently.

However Hutton, who had some initial reservations, admits he's having to eat his words.

And he reckons they should chuck in an offer regardless for a man who has been a useful stop gap for the injured Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos .

The 38-year-old, speaking to Football Insider , said: “He’s made a difference when he’s came off the bench, you can really see why they brought him in. I did raise my eyebrows as well, like a lot of people, when he came in. I found it a strange one.

“I know with Defoe’s injury and Morelos and stuff, I know why they brought him in but I found it a bit of a strange one. I think he’d be a good addition, you never know with the likes of Morelos what’s going to happen in the summer.

"He’s came in, hit the ground running and done really well. I think that would be a good option for Rangers going forward.”

Kamberi has seven appearances for Rangers so far since the January switch.

His only goal in blue was a crucial leveller in last month's 2-2 draw with St Johnstone while he assisted Ryan Kent's deflected winner in Sunday's 1-0 win at Ross County.
