Alan Hutton acclaims 'unbelievable' Borna Barisic Rangers turnaround as star flips tactical script

From zero to hero - it's a journey Alan Hutton knows well.

The right-back wasn't exactly a fans' favourite before Walter Smith replaced Paul Le Guen, but from the moment the Ibrox legend took back the reigns, Hutton embarked on an incredible transformation that would lead to spending nearly a decade at the sharp end of English football.

So if there's anyone that understands what Borna Barisic is going through, it's the 35-year-old.

Barisic disappointed for most of last season after his £2.2m transfer from Osijek but has found his best form this term, culminating in a man of the match performance against Celtic where he grabbed two assists in a 2-1 win at Parkhead.

And Hutton reckons he's proved his doubters wrong in an emphatic way.

He told Football Insider : “He’s really gone from strength, a lot of fans would have thought after he started at Rangers he wouldn’t really last too long.

“He’s really came out the blocks firing after a poor start and shown everybody how good a player he can possibly be. His assists are unbelievable at the moment.

“Everybody thought you had to worry about just James Tavernier on the right but it’s actually turned out that you have to worry even more about the left now because he’s in sensational form.

“His two assists against Celtic, the cut-back for Kent and then the corner was unbelievable.”
