In the middle of the night on Thursday, Big Baller Brand co-founder Alan Foster debuted his YouTube channel and gave his account of what happened between him, LaVar Ball and Lonzo Ball, who’s suing Foster for alleged money laundering. This is the first time Foster has publicly spoken about the situation.
According to Foster, he advised Lonzo to get surgery after a specialist in Cleveland told Lonzo he had torn ligaments in his ankle, but the Lakers warned Lonzo hat his contract could be voided if he got the unauthorized procedure done. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported this same incident in April.
Foster said it was the Lakers’ negligence that resulted in yet another season-ending injury for Ball, not the Big Baller Brand sneakers. The Lakers aren’t the only party he blamed, though.
Foster also said that LaVar overworked all three Ball brothers and didn’t train them properly:
“It’s LaVar’s fault for driving him into the ground when he was a kid. He had the boys running on cement, running hills on concrete. Can you imagine the damage that does on your knees? On your ankles? And then, when they play in the game — whether it’s AAU, high school —LaVar requested that they stayed in the full game with no breaks, no rest. So, Lonzo’s 21 years old but his ankles are really like 31 years old.”
Foster said LiAngelo Ball had the same problem, but unlike his older brother, he opted to undergo surgery after seeing Foster’s friend in Cleveland.
Foster said he intends on posting new videos every week, detailing what happened between him and the Ball family. Foster’s reemergence in the public eye comes fresh off of the news that he filed a counter lawsuit against the Ball family claiming that LaVar acted as his accomplice in the alleged money laundering scheme. A spokesperson for LaVar has denied Foster’s claims.
