Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow has fans gobsmacked over extortionate price of iron

Epic Gameshow viewers were left gobsmacked over the hefty price tag of an iron.

The game show, hosted by funnyman Alan Carr, features reimagined versions of past ITV quiz programmes like Bullseye, Play Your Cards Right and Strike It Lucky.

During Saturday's instalment, which was a rehash of The Price is Right, Alan welcomed eight new contestants to the show, who were invited to guess the correct price of popular household items in a bid to take home some cash, reports Daily Star.

One of the items the players were tasked with correctly guessing the value of was a steam iron - which proved to be much more challenging than anticipated.

Player Jamie was the closest to guessing the true price of the iron, offering £207 - but even then he was still a way off.

Alan finally revealed that the iron cost a staggering £420, leaving both the contestants and viewers at home shocked.

Jamie revealed that his mum was actually the person who did his ironing, which explained why he didn't know what the appliance was worth.

Fans of the show rushed to Twitter to share their disbelief at the extortionate price, with one person saying: "FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY QUID FOR AN IRON???"

Another wrote: "£420 for an iron. I like the creased look thanks!"

"£420 for an iron?! Go to Argos or Currys!" said a third.

Someone else asked: "£420 Jesus Christ where did they get that from?"

How much would you say the iron would have cost? Let us know in the comments.
