Alan Carr flees to the US ahead of Celebrity Traitors final because 'everyone hates him'

Alan Carr revealed he has escaped to the US ahead of the Celebrity Traitors final on Thursday.

The comedian, 49, is one of two Traitors left in the hit BBC reality show alongside singer Cat Burns, 25, and has become a social media sensation thanks to his acerbic one-liners and giggly demeanour.

However, Carr joked that he is currently the “most hated man in the UK” and has fled to Orlando, Florida, with his nephew and niece to escape from the scrutiny.

The Chatty Man star claimed he needed to “get away” from the backlash during a conversation with Heart radio hosts Olly Murs and Mark Wright at their pop-up studio.

“I'm the most hated man in the UK, I've had to come here to Orlando to get away from it. Everyone hates me!” he quipped.

“I just needed to get away because it's stressful murdering every day. My Christmas card list is getting smaller and smaller.”

Murs suggested Carr dress up as a Traitor while visiting the Universal Studios theme park, pointing out that he could get a Traitors-style cape at Harry Potter World.

“I've come here for a break!” Carr joked, before adding that he could ride the famous water slide at Universal's Volcano Bay while wearing the cape and carrying a Traitors lantern.

He then pretended to be the public slamming him for wearing a Traitors costume at the theme park, saying: “‘Oh Alan, have a day off! We get it, you’re a Traitor! Even on his downtime...’”

Carr later shared several photos of him at Universal Studios on Instagram.

The Interior Design Masters host was wearing a comical disguise comprising of a sandy-grey wig and a fake grey moustache.

He revealed in the caption that he will be back in the UK in time for the Traitors final.

“Well I needed that!!! Fun! Fun! Fun! With the family!!!” the comic wrote. “Back in time for The Traitors final on Thursday!!!”

Carr admitted earlier this month that his Traitor ways have affected his friendship with fellow contestant Paloma Faith.

He “murdered” his long-time friend on the show, making her the first celebrity to leave the competition, and confessed that she is “not happy” with him.

“I’m killing people willy nilly - I've got a real taste for it,” Carr said on his Life’s A Beach podcast with DJ Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.

“I killed Paloma Faith. She’s not happy about it. There’s been a few little TikToky things where she says I’ve let her down because I killed her in plain sight.”

He insisted: “I was desperate and she said, ‘If you were a real friend, you wouldn’t have killed me.’ But I said, ‘I’m the Traitor! The show’s called The Traitors!’

Carr added that he’s desperate to make amends with Faith - who recently announced her pregnancy with her second child.

“I’m going to take her for dinner,” he said. “I love her. I’m such a big fan of her and she’s the best - but no one wants to be murdered first on a show. I panicked.”

Faith revealed last month that she felt “humiliated and embarrassed” by her early exit and joked that her daughter doesn’t like Carr anymore.
