'Alan Browne you f***ing legend': Ireland fans react as goal drought comes to an end against Serbia

Republic of Ireland fans were buzzing after Alan Browne gave the Boys in Green a 1-0 lead in Serbia.

Ireland’s seven-game wait for a goal ended after 11 hours and 18 minutes of football when they took the lead from their first coherent attack of the game.

Callum Robinson picked up possession on the left edge of the penalty area and he made a yard of space for himself before floating a cross to the far post, where Browne rose to plant a firm downward header into the net.

Unfortunately, Serbia equalised minutes before half-time through Dusan Vlahovic.

Mark Travers made a vital 44th-minute save from Filip Djuricic after his run into the box had been picked out by Tadic to ensure the half ended with the score at 1-1.

A large number of fans took to social media to celebrate Browne's goal in Belgrade.

One said: "Alan Browne is God."

Another commented: "Alan Browne is a national hero."

Someone else posted: "Alan Browne you fucking legend."
