Alan Brazil reveals his madcap Celtic and Tottenham transfer pact involving Odsonne Edouard

Radio host Alan Brazil reckons Jose Mourinho missed a trick by not signing red-hot Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard in January.

The former Scotland international believes the 22-year-old would have been the perfect temporary replacement for Harry Kane who is currently on the sidelines until the summer with a serious hamstring injury.

Record Sport exclusively revealed last month that Leicester are weighing up a £30m move for the France U21 forward when the transfer window opens.

The likes of Everton are also keen admirers but Brazil is adamant Mourinho should have pushed Tottenham into making a deal with Celtic .

But the 60-year-old reckons Edouard wouldn't have been in North London for long if a shock agreement had been reached.

Brazil, sharing his views on his talkSPORT breakfast show, said: "I'd have bought him (Edouard), I would have.

"Then if Harry comes back and he wants to revert back to one up front, then 'Edouard, thank you, you've really helped us, see you later'."

Celtic are in no rush to lose their talisman who has netted 39 times for club and country this season.

And we revealed last week that the Premiership champions are keen to extend the ex-Paris Saint-Germain academy star's deal beyond his current contract which expires in 2022.

Manager Neil Lennon is hopeful a deal for Edouard could be agreed with his side on course for a historic quadruple Treble.

He said: “Would I advise him to stay? Why not? But I don’t know what’s out there for him. I’m sure there’s plenty of suitors so it won’t be down to my decision. I’ll do all I can to keep him.

“We’ll wait and see.

“He’s not the type to be banging down your door. He seems quite happy.

“But it’s not just his goals, his all-round game has been absolutely superb.”
