Alan Brazil brands Mikey Johnston a Celtic 'numpty' as Ally McCoist begs raging radio pal to 'calm down'

Fizzing Alan Brazil believes Mikey Johnston has questions to answer after wearing blue boots during Celtic's 1-1 draw with Hibs.

The mercurial playmaker wasn't at his best during the stalemate as he continues his recovery from injury and was replaced by Karamoko Dembele in the 79th minute.

But Celtic diehard Brazil wasn't as worried about his performance as he was about the Scotland Under-21 international's choice of footwear.

Former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha infamously banned green boots at Ibrox in the wake of Barrie McKay and other first team stars getting it in the neck for their colour selection.

And during 'Numpty of the Week' - Brazil was only too happy to offer up his own alternative candidate from the three that were on offer.

Speaking on his talkSPORT breakfast show:  "Can you put that wee Mikey Johnston in there? Him with the blue boots on against Hibs.

"Can he not get in there?"

But Brazil wasn't finished there as he turned his attention to Armstrong Okoflex after watching the academy star head onto the pitch with his air pods in.

He added: "And what about this sub with the music in his ears when getting warmed up.

"What is that about?"

His colleague Ally McCoist was caught on the hop, replying: "Alan, calm down, it was only a pair of boots. it was only a pair of earphones."

But Brazil countered: "Big Jock would have gone ballistic. I couldn't believe my eyes."

But McCoist was on hand to set the record straight that it was actually boss Neil Lennon passing on instructions from home as the Hoops boss had been forced into self isolation upon his return from Dubai.
