Kiko Casilla's Leeds United future debated by Alan Brazil and Simon Jordan

The future of Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has come under scrutiny after another high profile error.

The 33-year-old former Real Madrid stopper was criticised by supporters for his contribution to Brentford’s goal during Leeds United’s 1-1 away draw with Brentford on Tuesday evening.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa refused to add to that criticism in his post-match press conference.

Although, this didn’t stop TalkSport pundits Alan Brazil and Simon Jordan discussing the Spanish stopper on this morning’s Breakfast Show.

Fellow presenter Laura Woods led the debate.

She asked: “The question is, does Marcelo Bielsa stick with Kiko Casilla who has made mistakes in the last three games? He’s made some howlers. Is he (Bielsa) too stubborn?”

Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan answered: “Last year, in the play-off semi final he was a problem for them. He’s obviously a good goalkeeper, in some respects, but Bielsa is stubborn. Good managers are stubborn and resolute.

“If you take a goalkeeper out it is a really big decision. And, you have to make sure you have something better underneath you.”

Former Manchester United forward Brazil tried to see things from Bielsa’s point of view.

He said: “I think stubborn might not be the right word because Bamford is missing hatfuls - he’s a one-in-four man.

“One-in-four chances and he’ll score but he works his socks off and with Bielsa if you do what he asks he’ll stay with you - so I’d say he’s loyal.”

The Scot also encouraged Leeds United fans to stick with Bielsa - despite the Whites only winning one of their last five Championship matches.

Brazil said: “I don’t think it is all the doom and gloom people are saying.”

Leeds United currently sit second in the Championship table.

Their next Championship match is at Elland Road against Bristol City on Saturday, February 15.
