Alan Ball doesn’t need the ‘True Blood’ reboot: ‘I’ve been there, done that’

Alan Ball won’t be sinking his teeth into remakes, reboots or revivals.

While a “True Blood” reboot is in early development at its original home HBO, the Emmy-winning series’ creator, 64, has little desire to retread fictional steps.

“I know there’s been some talk of doing a ‘True Blood’ reboot,” the Oscar-winning “American Beauty” scribe told the Daily News while celebrating the 20th anniversary of his other HBO hit, “Six Feet Under.”

Ball, according to Variety, will executive produce the reboot of the Louisiana-set vampire drama, which premiered in 2008 and concluded in 2014.

“That I said, ‘Fine, go with God,’ but I’ve been there, done that. I don’t ever need to do anything about vampires ever again for the rest of my life.’

As for “Six Feet Under,” which celebrated 20 years Thursday and is about the lives of the Fisher family and the Los Angeles funeral home they run, Ball said of a reboot: “I don’t know how you could do it.

“I mean unless you just rebooted it from scratch and recast all the roles,” he continued. “But like, what’s the point of doing that? I feel like then ... you’re just trying to create product ... Which is what everybody’s doing these days anyway.”

Ball briefly mused about a show centered on the sons of David (Michael C. Hall) and Keith (Mathew St. Patrick) running the funeral home, but he didn’t seem too enthused.

“I’m trying to like, get new stuff off the ground. ... I mean, it belongs to HBO. If they wanna reboot it because they think there’s money to be made, they will do it. And probably what I’ll do is say, ‘Well, you gotta pay me some money and put my name on it, but go with God,’” Ball laughed.
