Aladdin in the West End: Backstage with Matthew Croke, Courtney Reed and Trevor Dion Nicholas

This summer, West End favourite Aladdin is taking audiences on one last carpet ride - and we went behind the scenes to see how the magic happens.

The Evening Standard headed backstage at the Prince Edward Theatre, where the show has been delighting audiences for the last three years. Giving us an exclusive tour were Aladdin, Jasmine and the Genie themselves: actors Matthew Croke, Courtney Reed and Trevor Dion Nicholas.

The cast of the show took us around the theatre, providing a glimpse of dressing rooms, costumes, and the theatre stage itself before the audience arrives.

Audiences have a final chance to see the current production of Aladdin this month before the show comes to an end; its final performance is scheduled for August 24. In our review of the show’s opening, the Standard described it as “a show with a well-judged air of mischief and spectacle”.

It makes way for Mary Poppins, which will open at the theatre in October of this year, with Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp in the lead roles.

Aladdin is at the Prince Edward Theatre until August 24
