Alabama State offensive tackle Tytus Howard ‘felt at home’ with Texans

Offensive tackle Tytus Howard had a private workout with the Houston Texans in the pre-draft process. He was even one of the club’s 30 visits.

Now, the former Alabama State offensive tackle returns as the club’s 23rd overall pick, and it is a pleasant feeling.

“It was a great feeling to come back,” Howard told reporters Friday at NRG Stadium.

What helped out Howard was the fact he had a remarkable visit, and the fact that he felt like it was a homecoming when he first visited the AFC South champions from a season ago.

“When I came in with my family today, it just felt good to be back here and know I’m going to be here for a long time,” said Howard.

Despite the 6-5, 322-pound Monroeville, Ala., native being over 500 miles from his current home, it is a promising sign that the adjustment to a new living environment won’t be a difficult for the talented young lineman.

Only time will tell whether or not he is able to translate his potential and college prowess into a successful NFL career, but at least he is seemingly happy with his newfound home.
