Alabama QB Mac Jones discusses meeting with Patriots at Senior Bowl

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones appears to be on the New England Patriots radar. After having a good conversation with the organization last month and turning heads at the Senior Bowl, Jones certainly made the most of this past week.

Jones seems like he’s in the mix to go in the first round, potentially to New England at 15th overall — or perhaps even higher. Though he’s not the type of mobile quarterback that’s popular in today’s NFL, he had a stellar 2020 season as a pocket passer, with a 77.4 completion percentage, 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Appearing on Good Morning Football with Peter Schrager on Wednesday, Jones had an interesting answer when asked if he had heard any rumors about being on the Patriots radar.

“There’s all sorts of things out there I guess. For me, I got to meet with all 32 teams and got to meet with the Patriots. There were some scouts there, so hopefully I left a good impact on them.”

“I think Coach Belichick and Coach Saban obviously have a great relationship and I hope Coach Saban has good things to say about me, but I assume he would. Obviously one of my buddies Damien Harris is up there too, so I talk to him a good amount.”

Although not exactly a concrete answer, it does give some insight into the connections the Patriots have with Alabama. As New England looks for its franchise quarterback, Jones could be an option for New England.
