Alabama flattens Georgia for SEC Championship

There was expected to be a debate after Saturday’s SEC Championship Game. Table it because the discussion never materialized.

Nick Saban and Alabama went into Atlanta and nearly everyone was wondering if a two-loss Crimson  Tide team would get a CFP invite.

Fear not, college football fans. Saban and the Tide toppled Georgia from the unbeaten ranks, 41-24, in a thorough dismantling of a team that came in allowing 230 yards per game.

Bryce Young threw for more than 421 yards and 3 touchdowns as Alabama advanced to 12-1, the lone blemish being a last-second loss to Texas A&M.

On the defensive side, Jordan Battle, who wears the same No. 9 as Young, had a pick-six of Stetson Bennett that opened the lead to 38-17.

The Bulldogs were 12-0 and favored over the Crimson Tide coming into the game.

They left with a large defeat, although the belief is Georgia will still be one of the four teams to get a CFP invite.

But the Bulldogs won’t be the No. 1 seed.

Meanwhile, the only unbeaten team in the land is Cincinnati, which improved to 13-0 with a 35-20 win over Houston in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
