Alabama DL Quinnen Williams visiting the Jaguars Thursday

After bringing in Alabama tight end Irv Smith Jr. this week, the Jacksonville Jaguars also will be hosting his teammate in defensive lineman Quinnen Williams. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the former Crimson Tide standout is being hosted by the team Thursday despite there being a strong possibility that he’ll be taken before the No. 7 overall pick.

Williams, 21, is a player most draft analysts feel is an instant starter and has Pro Bowl potential. While in Alabama in 2018, the First-Team All-SEC standout was able to accumulate 45 solo tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks throughout 15 games as a redshirt sophomore, which helped propel the Tide to the National Championship in January against the Clemson Tigers. In 2017, he played in 14 games and was able to accumulate 11 tackles, 6.5 TFLs and two sacks while aiding the Tide to a National title win over the Georgia Bulldogs.

Many scouts feel he’s a solid fit for the interior for a 4-3 scheme, however, if the Jags think he’s a fit at the big end role where Calais Campbell plays, they might snatch him up as a steal without hesitation. Again, it’s unlikely they’ll have to worry about that, though, especially when considering Williams’ draft stock.
