Alabama defensive lineman runs faster 40 than 2 NFC West QBs

There are always a few surprise performances during the NFL’s scouting combine each offseason, either increasing or decreasing prospects’ draft stock for April.

This year, it was Alabama defensive lineman Quinnen Williams who turned on the heat.

Williams ran an impressive 40-yard dash this weekend, clocking in at 4.87 seconds, logging a faster time than half of the current starting quarterbacks in the NFC West.

ESPN tweeted a video of William’s run, including an overlay featuring Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen (4.92) and 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (4.97), both who posted slower times during their combine 40-yard dashes.

Williams is a 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman.

William’s time, while speedy, didn’t beat that of Rams’ Jared Goff or Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who had the fasted time of the bunch at 4.55 seconds.

While Williams is unlikely to land in the NFC West, Rosen – if he ultimately remains the Cardinals starter – and Garoppolo better keep their eyes open on game days.
