Alabama DB going by sweetest first name in sports

There have been many great players in Alabama football history. However, they will have to go a long way to top the best first name.

That honor goes to freshman DB Ga’Quincy McKinstry, who is going by Kool-Aid. And it is in his bio on the team website.

And coach Nick Saban was all-in on the name when he discussed the heralded DB in April.

“Kool-Aid, you know, is making progress,” Saban said. “I think, you know he’s shown that he has some ability to contribute to the team. I think that, you know, he has to play with more consistency in his position. He needs to know what to do all the time.”

For some background on a player who will be legendary before he takes the field for a game in Tuscaloosa:

Widely considered the top cornerback in the 2021 signing class … a five-star on the 247Composite … ranks as the nation’s No. 23 overall player on the 247Composite, the No. 1 corner and the top player in Alabama … the No. 18 player nationally in the Top247 by 247Sports and the site’s top-ranked cornerback … rivals.com ranks him 46th nationally, as the No. 2 cornerback and as the No. 1 recruit in Alabama … a playmaker on both sides of the football, leading the Indians to the Alabama 6A State Championship in 2020 and three titles in the last four years … chose Alabama over Auburn and LSU.

No word on whether he is going to be sued by the character below for, um, gimmick infringement.
