Al Nassr boss addresses 'transfer interest' in former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo

Al Nassr head coach Rudi Garcia has remained coy on the Saudi Arabian club's reported interest in signing former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

United, following Ronaldo's sit-down interview with Piers Morgan last month, made the decision to recently terminate the 37-year-old's contract. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner used his interview with Morgan to heavily criticise both the club and manager Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo's exit from United means that he has become a free agent for the very first time in his career. Saudi outfit Al Nassr have been installed as the leading contenders to secure the former Juventus man's signature, with multiple reports suggesting that they have offered him a contract worth €200million (£173m) per season.

Ronaldo was the subject of interest from an unnamed Saudi club during the summer, as reported by the Manchester Evening News at the time, but rejected the move. However, Al Nassr appear keen to try and tie up a deal for the former Reds ace, despite Garcia refusing to give anything away on their reported interest.

Garcia told AS: "I can't say anything about Cristiano because otherwise it would immediately appear in the headlines: 'Garcia: about Ronaldo'.

"What I see is that it has been a soap opera and it has been a very important promotion for Al Nassr."

Ronaldo, who, along with his Portuguese teammates, was knocked out of the World Cup at the quarter-final stage by Morocco on Saturday, has remained coy himself on his future, giving nothing away. However, in an Instagram post, reflecting on Portugal's exit in Qatar, he did appear to hint that he could be set to stay in the Middle East, referencing the weather.

He said: "Thank you Qatar. The dream was nice while it lasted... Now, it's hoping that the weather will be good advisor and allow each one to draw their own conclusions."
