The Cris Collinsworth slide is one of NFL fans’ favorite things on Sunday Night Football, with the analyst sliding into frame to join play-by-play partner Al Michaels and igniting NFL Twitter to tweet about it every single week.
But we learned from Michaels before Thursday’s season opener that was broadcast by NBC that there would be no Collinsworth slide because of social distancing, which makes all the sense in the world but was still a bummer, as evidenced by the reaction on Twitter with fans missing the slide.
You know who else misses the slide? Al Michaels, who said after Thursday’s Chiefs win over the Texans that he hopes Collinsworth will get to “slide in before the season is done.”
