Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayeb visited the Saudi pavilion at the Cairo International Book Fair, reviewing the Kingdom's “very impressive” contribution to what he labeled a “great cultural forum.”
El-Tayeb said the Saudi participation reflects the depth Saudi-Egyptian relations shared.
Saudi Cultural Attaché Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Nami, accompanying el-Tayeb, stressed the importance of the visit, pointing out that Al-Azhar serves as guiding light for Islam.
It is worth noting that el-Tayeb toured a number of pavilions partaking in the exhibition. But when visiting the Saudi section of the fair, el-Tayeb positively reviewed publishing houses, praising "the good organization within the pavilion."
Al-Nami voiced his appreciation for the important and leading global role played by Al-Azhar and el-Tayeb to promote the values of peace, dialogue and coexistence in the world and to highlight tolerance and moderation of Islam. He also praised Al-Azhar’s support for the campaign aimed at distributing one billion copies of the biography of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in ten different languages.
At the end of his tour within the Saudi pavilion, the Saudi Cultural Attaché presented a souvenir gift to el-Tayeb.
On another note, Al-Azhar participated for the third consecutive year in a special 100-meters large pavilion that included differently-themed corners.
