Actor Aryan Preet, who's been part of TV shows like Punyashlok Ahilyabai and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala, has played the role of young Akshay Kumar in movies like Laxmii and Bachchhan Paandey. The actor reveals how playing a role of transgender was challenging and how he is happy he did it.
Aryan says, "I remember the time when I went for the audition of Laxmii, I was a little confused. But being an actor, I wanted to challenge myself. I was worried about being typecast in the future, but was also excited as later the role was to be played by one of my favourite actors, Akshay Kumar. I thought I will give an audition and leave everything to God, as I believe he always does the best for me. And that actually happened because after Laxmii, I got another big opportunity to essay the role of young Akshay sir in Bachchhan Paandey too. It was a great feeling."
Aryan says he also received appreciation for his performance in Laxmii. He shares, "I remember when I went for the look test of Laxmii, Raghava Lawrence sir said that after he saw my audition, he felt I was perfect for the role of Laxmmi. These compliments will always hold a special place in my heart."
It was an unconventional role in Laxmii and Aryan is happy that he took it up. "I feel such movies can help us in educating society. We need to make our society more respectful of the third gender. It was definitely a challenge to play such a powerful role because that was something I had not done before. My friends and family were happy to see me in the role and felt proud."
